Pakistani complaint to UN terrorist inspired: India

New York: India has dismissed a Pakistani complaint to the UN Security Council about a wall it said New Delhi was building as an issue inspired by a terrorist.

In a letter to Council President Vitaly Churkin of Russia, Pakistani Permanent Representative Maleeha Lodhi complained that India was building a 197-km-long wall on the Line of Control (LoC) and that this would violate Council resolutions.

The LoC divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan.

Asked about the Pakistani charge, Indian external affairs ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup said: "It is based on some kind of submission made by (Sayeed) Salahuddin, whom we consider to be a global terrorist."

Salahuddin is the leader of the pro-Pakistan Hizb-ul Mujahideen, which has been designated a terrorist organisation by India, the US and the European Union.

Earlier, Pakistan had written to the UN complaining about a lack of interaction between the two countries.

Swarup said that complaint was irrelevant because the Border Security Force of India and Pakistan Rangers officials had held meetings.
