Date 18/10/2015 19:53  Author admin  Hits 499  Language Global
Islamabad: Pakistan has stepped up security for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after learning that the Indian intelligence agency RAW was trying to assassinate him, the media said on Sunday.

The Punjab Home Department had issued a high alert to security institutions "over an assassination threat to Sharif from the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW)", The News International said.

It quoted a circular from the home department as saying that "RAW has weaved a plan to assassinate Sharif" and that a number of other prominent personalities in Pakistan were also on RAW's radar.

"In view of the latest threat, the circular carries strict orders for the law enforcing departments to take all necessary measures to ensure fool-proof security of the prime minister and others," the report said.

Sharif's special assistant Musadik Malik told Geo News: "We know how to protect our prime minister."
