Gujarat (India): A 40-year-old woman was allegedly raped by three men in Kumbharawad area in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar. The accused also recorded a video of the crime and later uploaded it on social media platforms.
The woman works as a sanitation worker at the office of one of the three accused.
As per reports, the crime occurred on April 1 but came to light on Wednesday (May 19) when the woman filed a police complaint against the three accused – Rakesh Makwana, Dinesh Makwana and Kapil Chudasama -- after learning that the clip of the crime has gone viral on social media platforms.
How it happened
The woman, in her complaint, stated that she worked as a sanitation worker at Kapil’s office, and the other two accused are his friends. On April 1, while she was engaged in her work, the trio closed the office door from inside and then took turns to sexually assault her. They filmed the act and threatened to upload the video on social media if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
According to a report by The Times of India, the affected woman, after some days, quit her job at Kapil’s office, following which the accused posted the video of the crime on social media platforms. On May 14, the clip spread like wildfire in cyberspace, and the survivor came to know about it. Subsequently, she decided to file a complaint against the accused.
On Wednesday, the survivor approached the Bhavnagar police with her complaint against the accused. The police, after receiving the complaint, flared up in action and arrested two accused -- Dinesh Makwana and Rakesh Makwana. Efforts are being made to nab Kapil Chudasama.

Another incident
In another incident, a man allegedly raped an 18-year-old woman for eight months under the pretext of marriage. The crime occurred in Shukulganj area in Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh.
The 18-year-old girl, in her complaint to the police, stated that the man established a physical relationship with her after promising that he would marry her. Later, he refused to tie the knot with her, following which she informed his family about it. Shockingly, his family members abused her, she alleged. After this, she approached the police with her complaint against the accused.
