A woman and paramour allegedly murdered her mother-in-law and later dumped the body on the railway tracks to pass off the crime as an accident.

Karnataka, India: A 42-year-old woman and her 42-year-old lover allegedly strangled her 70-year-old mother-in-law to death and dumped the body on the railway tracks on the outskirts of Tumakuru in Karnataka. As per reports, the accused committed the crime after the victim learnt of their affair and took objection to it.

Ningamma (70), a resident of Mandya district, had gone missing on July 19 after she left for her daughter-in-law Latha’s house in Kyathasandra area. The next day, a headless body was found on the tracks. The mutiliated body was identified to be that of Ningamma, who was missing. Subsequent inquiries led the investigators to zero in on Latha, the victim’s daughter-in-law, and M.B. Balachandra, a bus conductor.


-The accused killed the elderly woman after she objected to their affair.


According to the police, Latha had to pay monthly maintenance to Ningamma from her husband’s property. Moreover, she owed her a sum of Rs 1.5 lakh.  Following her husband’s death, Latha developed a relationship with Balachandra. Ningamma learnt about their affair and opposed it, prompting Latha to conspire with Balachandra to eliminate her, according to a report by Bangalore Mirror.

Latha and Balachandra strangled Ningamma to death and took away her gold ornaments. Thereafter, they dumped her body on the tracks in order to pass of the crime as an accident. Later, the accused picked up the victim’s severed head and threw in a truck, so that her identity could not be ascertained. The victim’s head was found in Ilkal, around 350 km away.
