Telangana, India: Five men have been arrested for the gang-rape of a 20-year-old student at an abandoned hospital building in Telangana's Nizamabad district, police said.
Police said five men have been arrested for their involvement in the crime. A case has been registered against the five accused under Indian Penal Code (IPC) on charges of gang-rape, wrongful restraint and under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, police said, according to a news report by Times of India.
Police said three accused took turns to rape the woman while two others were accomplices.
The incident took place on Tuesday night when the student was offered lift while she was returning home. She had befriended one of the accused and sat on a bike. They took her around Nizamabad while telling her that they were going for a drive. They then took her to the abandoned hospital building and took turns to rape her, police said.
Police said the accused raped her in the watchman's room at the hospital building.
Three of the accused had committed the crime while two others were accomplices.
All five have been arrested and a further probe is underway, police said.
