Rajkot (Gujarat, India): In a shocking incident, two brothers allegedly assaulted a woman by dragging her by her hair and thrashing her to death in Gujarat's Rajkot on Sunday night. The deceased, identified as Shabnam Chauhan (30), is survived by her husband and three children, all below the age of five. The victim reportedly reprimanded the accused, Sonu and Sambhu, both neighbours, for reportedly peeping into her house.

A report published in the Times of India (TOI) revealed that Sonu allegedly harassed the victim when her husband was not at home. The accused was allegedly peeping into her house from a window. When Shabnam objected to this, Sonu along with his brother Shambhu barged into her house and dragged her out by pulling her by the hair.

Victim attacked with iron pipe

According to reports, the victim was attacked with an iron pipe and the accused ran from the spot. Shabnam's family members informed her husband Santosh about the entire incident. Santosh was shocked to find his wife lying in a pool of blood when he reached home. The woman was rushed to Rajkot civil hospital but was declared dead on arrival at the civil hospital.

Accused absconding

Police said that Shabnam, a resident of Bihar, lived with her husband and three children in a one-room house in Shapar Veraval. Her husband works as a laborer in a factory.

Meanwhile, police said they have detained Sonu for questioning and efforts are underway to nab the other accused, Shambhu. Both the accused are from Uttar Pradesh, they said.
