A new Konkani Devotional Audio CD titled ‘ Dev Nara, Ye Ghara’ was released recently during the Novena Masses to the Infant Jesus here at Bikarnakatte. The 15th Konkani Album of Carmelites, composed by Fr. Alwyn SequeiraOCD abudding musician and lyricist was released by Rev. Fr. J. B. Saldanha the Parish priest of Permannur. ‘Sangeeth Guru’ Joel Pereira has arranged Music. Renowned singers from Mangalore Like Fr. Pius James OCD, Robin Sequiera, Dr. Prashanth Raj, Shilpa Cutinha, Velita Lobo, Karen Crasta are the soloists in the album. Carmel Choir Members and Carmelite Scholastics from St. Joseph’s Monastery have sung the parts. The album contains ten meditative hymns which also could be used for Liturgy. Some of the renditions like ‘Ami mukarmukarvetanv ’is a fitting anthem for the ‘Year for the Youth’ , ‘Somia kithlim sobayechim tujim krothyam’ is a hymn on presence of God in the creation and ‘Poroth ye kavkasdhi’ is a penitential hymn pleading the Lord to grant another chance in the new year. The Multi Media Wing of Dhyanavana Publications has produced this album and Mr. & Mrs. Lancy, Jovitha Sequeira have sponsored this album.
Fr. Alwyn Sequeira, a Carmelite Priest from Infant Jesus Shrine has composed around 200 hymns. Carmelites as a team has brought out 15 albums so far and out of them around 11 of them were exclusively composed by him and has contributed hymns for other 4 albums. He has also helped some budding musicians to bring out their music albums. One of his albums ‘Sawdik Sobd’ has bagged the Best Album of the Year 2008 in Global Konkani Music Awards of MaandSobann. The previous album was released on Sept 8th during Monthi Fest titled “Dhi Maye Jesuk” which has been appreciated by one and all. He has an anthology of poems titled’Pinthuram’ whichhas bagged ‘book of poetry for the year 2008’ award by Karnataka Konkani Sahithy Academy.
