Madhya Pradesh (INDIA): A 50-year-old female Covid patient on oxygen support was allegedly sexually assaulted by a hospital ward boy at a Covid care centre set up in a hotel in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh on Sunday April 19. The accused purportedly attempted to rape her and has now been arrested, the police said.
During the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, the accused Vivek Lodhi tried to sexually assault the complainant twice according to her statement. He came to her ward when there was no one else there. The complainant said he fled after her family members sounded an alarm.
The complainant’s son filed a first information report and a case has been registered at Kampoo police station. Additional Superintendent of Police Hitika Vasal said an investigation is underway.
The woman’s family also accused the private hospital to which the care centre belongs of negligence. This too is being investigated.
