The day after the Rockets season ended with an ugly 114-75 blowout by the Spurs, Houston coach Mike D'Antoni sounded full of remorse. His biggest apparent regret: Not being more careful limiting star James Harden's minutes throughout the season.Harden put up
NBA 2K MT MVP-caliber numbers this year (29.1 points, 11.2 assists and 8.1 rebounds per game) but he also played the third-most minutes in the league.
Some observers wondered if that heavy workload suddenly caught up with Harden this week. He had a poor shooting performance in the second half and overtime of the Rockets' Game 5 loss, then looked very un-Harden like in the Game 6 debacle, going 2 for 11 from the floor with six turnovers.
D'Antoni told reporters Friday he will look to get Harden more rest next season."All great players think they can do everything," D'Antoni said (via MMOgo)."Maybe he does need to take a game off here and there. 'Hey, you're nicked up a little bit, don't play, maybe.' Something to talk about, but that's also his greatness, too.
So it's hard. It's very delicate."Harden, of course, would need to sign on to a plan that sits him more. "We'll work that together," D'Antoni said, but the coach will look to keep the guard fresh even when he's on the court."We will talk about it. I can help him. The offense will get better," D'Antoni said. "I can get him off the ball some. I can save his legs a little bit and
cheap NBA 2K18 MT Coins have more confidence (in other ball handlers). Pat Beverley can run the team a little bit. We can do different things."
