AN EVIL killer raped, beheaded and skinned a four-year-old girl after her mother rejected him, police have said.
The 27-year-old man, who has not been named, is accused of murdering the little girl after her mother publicly snubbed him in Khopoli town in Maharashtra, India.
The suspect is said to have taken the girl to his home where he sexually assaulted and killed her in an act of revenge.
He then severed her head with a kitchen knife and dumped her torso 300m behind his house.
According to the Times of India, the man took off the girl's skin so the police could not identify her.
The girl's mother went looking for her with a female friend before reporting the child missing to police.
Her body was found with burn marks on it.
A bloodstained knife was later found in the man's home.
He admitted to the crime during interrogation, according to reports.
If he is found guilty of murder he will likely face life in prison.
A source said: "On Tuesday, around 8.30am, the girl had visited the man's house.
"Thereafter, he took her back to her mother, but the mother got annoyed and scolded him publicly.
"Hence, he decided to seek revenge. When the woman was busy inside her house, he gagged the girl, took her to his house, and bundled her away under the kitchen slab.
"He then went to sleep in the afternoon."
The suspect also admitted during interrogations that the murder was an act of revenge against the girl's mother.
The source added: "The mother, who is hearing impaired, had warned him against entering the house.
"She had threatened to tell her husband about it too. The accused and the victim's father were friends and were both from Uttar Pradesh."
The horrific rape and murder is the latest in a string of sexual assaults in recent years, including the gang rape and murder of a student on a moving New Delhi bus in 2012.
That brutal attack galvanised a country where widespread violence against women had long been quietly accepted.
While the government has passed a series of laws increasing punishment for rape of an adult to 20 years in prison, it’s rare for more than a few weeks to pass without another brutal sexual assault being reported.
Responding to widespread outrage over the recent rape and killings of young girls and other attacks on children, India’s government has recently approved the death penalty for people convicted of raping children under age 12.
A primary school teacher Mahendra Singh Gond recently received the death penalty earlier this month after a raped a four-year-old girl so badly she needed an operation on her intestines.
In January a 16-year-old girl was found beheaded with her head doused in acid after claims she was raped in India.
The girl's family have claimed the girl was raped and have criticised cops over their perceived delay in acting.
But a senior police officer has suggested the girl was killed in an "honour killing".
